The lightweight polymer frame is thin and ergonomic with a frame texture that makes it stick in your hand under any condition without being "sandpaper" rough. The frame is so thin that you won't believe that it holds 13rds of big bore .45ACP firepower. The Springfield XDM's forged steel slide is coated in melonite for corrosion resistance and is sleek with clean lines along with front and rear cocking serrations. The slide is topped with fiber optic style sights that provide a crisp sight picture in many light conditions but can be swapped out for a wide variety of aftermarket sights. One big improvement on the XDM over the older XD series pistols is the match grade barrel which offers shooters a greater level of accuracy, so whether it be self defense, law enforecement duty gun, or competition shooting you will benefit from the match grade steel barrel. Like all XD pistols from Springfield Armory, the XDM .45ACP 4.5" has the Ultra Safety Assurance trigger which breaks clean and resets nicely, grip safety and internal firing pin block safety which all work together to give shooters an extremelt safe and intuitive to use handgun. Single sided slide stop, and ambidextrous button style safety help shooters manipulate the gun in a variety of situations, and the loaded chamber indicator as well as striker indicator gives you a quick visual as to whether the handgun is cocked and or loaded.
