The Smith & Wesson M&P15 Sport II 5.56 is an update to the popular M&P15 Sport, including some features that were missing off the original Sport that customers wanted to see. The M&P15 Sport II is a basic M4 style AR15 rifle made by one of the oldest American gun companies Smith & Wesson. It is a 5.56 caliber Modern Sporting Rifle with fixed A2 style elevation adjustable front sight with flat top receiver with Magpul industries flip up polymer rear sight. The S&W M&P15 Sport II include a flip up dust cover and forward assist for the bolt carrier group which were not inlcuded in the original Sport. Unlike true to milspec rifles, the Sport II does not have a chrome lined barrel. Instead it is Melonited, which is a Thermochemical process that bonds the Melonite which is a Telluride of Nickel. The Melonite process imbues wear resistance by coating the metal in a thinner layer of material than Chrome lining with similar properties, giving the barrel longer life than the uncoated barrels of some other "budget" rifles. The Barrel of the Sport II has a 1/ barrel twist, which gives the shooter a wide range of ammunition choices. The M&P15 Sport comes with a 30rd Magpul Industries 30rd PMAG where local laws allow.
